Former Test cricketer Moin Khan was impressed by Shaheen Afridi's captaincy skills during the Pakistan Super League (PSL) season 8. Speaking to the media in Karachi on Monday, Khan backed Shaheen as Pakistan's future captain. "Shaheen Afridi could be the best choice for the next captain, considering the need to have a backup of young players for the future," he said."During his time in PSL 8, his leadership skills were impressive, as he led Lahore Qalandars to the championship twice. Shaheen's eligibility cannot be ignored," he added.Shaheen led Lahore Qalandars to the second consecutive PSL title victory this year on March 18. Lahore became the first-ever team to defend the title. They beat Multan Sultans in the final at home. After PSL 8, Shaheen was given rest alongside Babar Azam, Haris Rauf, Fakhar Zaman, and Mohammad Rizwan during the Afghanistan T20I series. Shadab Khan-led Pakistan team lost the series to Afghanistan 2-1. While talking about Shadab's captaincy, Khan said no player should be judged on a few failures. "It would be unfair to judge Shadab Khan's captaincy skills on the basis of just one series where he had a young and inexperienced team with him," Khan supported Shadab. Apart from Khan, former Test cricketer Rashid Latif claimed that the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is trying to punish Shadab for speaking truth. "One person is trying to speak the truth but they [PCB] are trying to zip his lips. Disturb him so much that he leaves cricket and make him a psycho. Why do 90 percent of Pakistan players become psycho after leaving cricket? They become psycho because of PCB," Latif bashed. In his press conferences during the Afghanistan T20I series, Shadab supported senior players who were given rest. "People will now come to know the importance of Babar and Rizwan," said Shadab after Pakistan lost the series to Afghanistan in Sharjah.
